Samsung PRO Select 64GB microSDXC Memory Card

Introduction

The Samsung PRO Select microSD cards were introduced in 2016. The card is similar to the PRO Plus that has the same 95MB/s read and 90MB/s write speed ratings. Both cards are marketed for action cameras, DSLR, smartphones and tablet PC, however the Select adds the additional claim that it is Full HD optimized. Operating temperature is slightly higher on the Select at -13°F to 185°F versus the -32°F to 158°F of the PRO plus. Samsung PRO Select series microSD cards are offered in 32, 64 and 128 GB sizes, and the 64GB microSDXC card (MB-MF64DA/AM) was tested for review.

The 64GB PRO Select microSD card supports UHS-I and is rated UHS Speed Class 3 (U3). The UHS-I interface operates at up to 104MB/s bus speed, while the U3 rating signifies the cards will sustain at least 30MB/s continuous write speed for recording HD, 4K and 3D video. Samsung PRO Select memory cards have a 10-year limited warranty. The card tested is made in Korea.

Performance

The 64GB Samsung PRO Select microSDXC card was tested in several USB 3.0 card readers. The maximum sequential read speed reached 97.8 MB/s, practically the same as the 97.8MB/s speed of the PRO Plus 64GB microSDXC card. Write speed measured up to 88.5 MB/s, very similar to the 88.2 MB/s of the PRO Plus.
